From the moment children are born until the time, their brain maps are set; there are vast
opportunities for unique learning. The way is open for ensuring fertile ground has been created
for the building blocks and tools of learning to be encoded. We know there is only a small
window of opportunity to do this. SA has so much work to do to ensure we close the existing
gaps in ECD and make good use of the opportunities that exist to amplify the potential in
children’s learning. Because the context is challenging. “After four years of schooling, 78% of
